Meaty Stuffed French Loaf

Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread, hollowed out
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 3/4 cup chopped onion
- 3/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/3 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 Eggland's Best eggs (large), lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Cut loaf lengthwise and hollow out center leaving two halves of bread crust; reserve the bread that was hollowed out and break apart into crumbs. Set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, combine beef, sausage, onion, oregano, salt, and pepper and cook until meat is browned.
When meat has cooked, remove from heat and add bread crumbs, mustard, parsley, eggs, and cheese. Blend well.
Spread meat evenly over bottom half of bread loaf and place top half of loaf on top. Secure with wooden toothpics and wrap tightly in alumnium foil.
Bake 15-20 minutes, remove from oven and loosen foil; return to oven and bake an additional 5-10 minutes.
Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
