Spice up your dessert with this yummy Apple Cranberry Pie! I'm a HOT MESS when it comes to baking ANYTHING (and just being in the kitchen at all), but I can handle this recipe and always am able to impress with it! It's delicious and people are always excited and shocked when I tell them it features dark rum as the secret ingredient!

Ingredients

5 large apples

1 cup dried cranberries

2 Eggland's Best eggs, large

2 pre-made pie crusts

2 cups sugar

2 tablespoons cinnamon

1/2 cup dark spiced rum

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  2. Peel & slice apples. Line pie tin with one of the pre-made pie crusts.
  3. Put apples and dried cranberries in a pot on low heat. Add dark spiced rum, 1 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Mix and let simmer until apples soften.
  4. Carefully (and slowly!) stir apples, slice apples, and cranberries are softened, remove from heat. Evenly add the mixture on to the pie crust.
  5. Mix 1 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Pour evenly on top of the apple and cranberry mixture.
  6. Mix 1 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Pour evenly on top of the apple and cranberry mixture.
  7. Crack 2 Eggland's Best eggs - dispose of the egg whites and keep only the yolk. Mix the yolks.
  8. Apply egg wash to the edge of the pie crust. Add the second crust to the top of the pie.
  9. Press them together. sing a fork, gently press the pie crusts together and add holes in the center of the pie. Add egg wash to the top of the pie.
  10. Feel free to get creative and make a design!
  11. Place the pie in the oven and bake until golden brown (approximately 20 minutes!).
  12. Let cool and enjoy!
