Eggland's Best Eggs Provide Excellent Source of Protein and Vitamins
Recent studies show that Vitamin E is an important anti-oxidant that also counters body damage from exercise. Physically active men and older people in particular, including fit seniors, often suffer from an increase in free radical activity after exercise, which damages body tissue. An anti-oxidant such as Vitamin E can help reduce damaging oxidative reactions.
While there are many good sources of Vitamin E, many of these foods contain higher levels of total fat and calories. One excellent source of Vitamin E without high levels of fat and calories is Eggland's Best eggs. With just 4.0 mg. of total fat and 70 calories, one large EB egg has 5.0 mg. of Vitamin E, which is seven times greater than regular eggs and 25 per cent of the recommended daily allowance.
In a recent Health and Nutrition Letter, Dr. Jennifer Sacheck, an exercise physiologist at Tufts University, conducted a recent study that showed that the antioxidant Vitamin E may reduce and, therefore, control free radical activity. The test included a group of physically active men, age 66 to 78, and a younger group, age 23 to 35. Test subjects received Vitamin E in a supplement form daily for three months, while a control group received a placebo.
While known for their great taste, Eggland's Best eggs contain only 180 mg. of cholesterol, compared to 215 mg. in ordinary eggs and only 1.2 grams of saturated fat, 25 percent less than ordinary eggs. Furthermore, EB eggs contain three times the level of Omega 3 fatty acids, beneficial to the heart, and 40 percent of a person's daily requirement of iodine. This results from Eggland's Best's strictly controlled, all-natural, all-vegetarian hen diet. This unique diet contains no animal fat, no animal byproducts and no recycled or processed food.
Sold in supermarkets throughout the country, all Eggland's Best eggs are stamped with the distinctive red “EB” mark and are certified as Kosher. For further nutritional information, visit www.egglandsbest.com
